The Hollow Cross
The Hollow Cross
A weathered driftwood shelf cradles a hand-carved limestone pillar — and resting against the stone is a small wood cross, bound at its center with dark cord. At the base of the shelf, a natural hole worn smooth by time catches the light and the eye. It wasn’t placed there. It simply is there.
That’s the nature of this piece. Mike didn’t plan the hole. He found it. And it became the most honest thing about the sculpture.
The limestone shows its hand-tooled marks — fine parallel lines that catch sunlight and shadow differently by the hour. The rounded top softens what could feel imposing. Dark leather cord loops around the stone at either side, anchoring the shelf below and the whole composition together.
This is a piece that rewards stillness. Set it near a window, on a mantle, beside a reading chair. It will look different every time you pass it.

How substantial are these pieces? Where should I display them?
They have a solid, powerful presence. These are heavy, heirloom-quality sculptures (typically weighing around 2 to 4 pounds). They are designed with a sturdy flat foundation, making them perfect for prominent display on a mantel, bookshelf, desk, or dedicated home-altar space where they won't easily tip.
